Kiss Of The Vampire
January 31, 2009
Another movie about vampires to add to our new found trend. Vampires are bringing biting back with a new found pleasure. Kiss of the Vampire has a modern day covern of vampires trying to exist but they need to feed. The film stars with Estelle, and her drunk partner John who arrive at the opera with her parents. John is just rude and embarrassing drawing unwanted attention to the group.
Alex Stone and his vampire self is seated in the balcony directly next to theirs and starts to really notice and desire Estelle. Estelle’s father, George Henderson is a prominent research scientist at the Price Institute. When everyone is piling out of the opera doors within minutes John is drunkenly embarrassing everyone until Alex gives him the once over, in his own way.
Slowly Stone and Estelle start to really like each other and eventually they fall in love. They decide they want her father to take some blood samples and see what he can do for him. Could the doctor make him human once again? Or will he learn of something that simply can not be dealt with? I didn’t think this movie was so bad, but online I read a really negative review for it.
Maybe that reviewer needs to take a step back and realize that it isn’t some big name Hollywood production with buckets of cash to spend on special effects and props. I know I was really harsh on a few movies because I thought they were bad but there are tons of things you have to take into consideration before you rip it to shreds. Kiss of the Vampire is not 30 Day of Nights material, but it still warrants a watch.

Amusement- 2009
January 27, 2009
Rob and his girlfriend Shelby are driving home on the long boring highway when he decides to follow this big mac truck whose driver is making some sweet time by weaving in and out of traffic at a high speed. When you follow cars like that on the highway and warn each other of the upcoming traffic it’s called a convoy. Shelby wakes up and is angry at how fast Rob is going and tells him he better get a grip and slow down. They pull off the exit following the intimidating trucker to a rest stop and find out that a man and his family are following them making this a three car convoy.
An attractive blond named Tabitha arrives at her Aunt’s to baby sit and is unnerved to find that the boy’s babysitter left early with out waiting for her to get there. What babysitter in there right mind leaves little children unattended? Who knows what sort of trouble two little boys could get into while not having any supervision- they could of really gotten hurt. Later when she puts the boys to bed she finally retires to her room there. Her aunt has it filled with an uncountable amount of clowns. A sinister scary life sized one sits hunched in the rocking chair. There is no way I could sleep in that awful room!
Lisa Swan is out one night with her roommate Cat at this classy uptown type of bar. Cat has met a man she thinks is interesting an attractive but she is debating even letting him drive her home. Lisa tells her to go for it and she’ll meet her home in 30 minutes. Well Cat doesn’t come home…at all. Lisa sends her boyfriend over to the rundown rat trap Paris Pension hotel to see if she is with the guy she left with. Her boyfriend doesn’t come out for hours so she waits for just the right moment then slips unnoticed inside. It doesn’t take Lisa long to see what big of a mistake she made by coming here, and alone at that.
Now all three of these girls were best friends as children and attended the same school Briar Hill with a really weird little boy who had a very distinctive laugh and liked to play jokes. The problem here is his jokes were mean and cruel, not funny. As a class project they all had to make shadow boxes of a scene that they enjoyed. All the girls had little cute boxes that they all took time and care making. He was excited to show them his box and waited there giggling as they peeked inside. It was not a pretty site and the girls ran to tell. That one incident is enough to show you how mentally ill he really was and at such a young age. They always said that hurting or killing animals is one of the first signs of a serial killer in the making!
Amusement shows you how each girl comes to be in the grips of their childhood tormentor, and what will happen when he is thru with them. Will anyone make it out of here to tell their terrifying story? The first two stories each had it’s nail biting moments in fear where the third was spooky and gritty but more of the story flexing all together for one tied in twisted tale. I have no fear of clowns, but when Tabitha dealt with being in the room with that giant one, it totally unnerved me. I wouldn’t be able to rest until I took him and threw it out the back door. No scratch that I’d have to burn it or something! I will admit I have already watched it twice and could go once more…I was just that into it. Will all of you enjoy it as much as me? It’s not perfect, but it is a film worth trying out!
Read my first hate letter! (Author Amy Henry)

ENJOY:
Honestly, I have never read a “review” that was so minimalistic and mindless in my entire life. I am to assume that you are steering people away from the fllm, but what have you to back up your strong opinions. I was in the film. My name was Amy Henry at that time, but my last name is now Penney. I had actually read this blurb in the past, but now that I am looking at it again (by pure chance, not because I sought your stereotypically-I-hate-everything-that-I-wish-I-were-but-could-never-be-because-my-parents-did-not-buy-me-an-i pod-for-christmas-let-alone-encourage-me-for-my-self-inflicted-sense-of-entitlement-even-though-I-fail-miserably-at-everything-I-do-and-have-nothing-better-to-do-than-sit-and-play-critic-to-the-artist-I-am-not-going-to-be-no-matter-how-hard-I-try self).
YOU DID NOT EVEN WATCH THE MOVIE!
May I quote you?
“involved in research of this haunted house.”
Nope. Way off. Guess again.
Since I was there when we actually filmed it, I can tell you flat-out, “angry whatever-you-say-you-are”, you are wrong.
To remind you of your pathetic “review” (and I will not even mention the high-school-drop-out style of writing), let me quote you once again:
“Do you believe in ghosts? How about if something was cursed would you believe that? If I handed you a rock and said later it was cursed how would you react? Would you laugh? Or would you throw the rock out in fear? It almost all boils down to either being superstitious or not. Return Of The Curse tells the story of a curse that is hitting all of the people that were involved in research of this haunted house.”
I CHALLENGE ANYONE TO WATCH THIS FILM AND PROVIDE TO ME A LOGICAL EXPLANATION AS TO HOW THIS PERTAINS TO THE FILM.
If you handed me a rock, I would probably throw it at your alternative-school’s English teacher.
Obviously, you could not even get your GED?
Think about what you have written.
Get back to me, Angry-For-Failing-At-Everything.
I have more rocks than you do.
And I am much more intelligent.

Imprint
January 26, 2009
It’s so great when you go into a film thinking the worst and come out liking it. Imprint for me, was one of those films. I expected another shitty ghost story but what I got what was an old fashioned ghost story that involved some Native American Twist. Shayla Stonefeather is a Native American prosecutor who gets pulled into a case involving her people.
She helps put away Bobby Whiteshirt who is Native American as well. Since she did this her people have come to feel as though she back stabbed them when she should of been defending them. After the trial she travels home for her just about comatose father’s birthday. When Shayla’s boyfriend Jonathan shows up her mom Rebecca instantly dislikes him and doesn’t hold back in telling her daughter so.
Weird things start happening like noises and sounds like someone is creeping thru their house. At first Shayla thinks it must be a relative of Bobby whiteshirt trying to scare her because she put him away. An old Native American Indian comes to their house and smudges it hoping to release anything negative. He tells Shayla that she just needs to listen to the spirits and it will all come together.
Her brother Nathaniel went missing awhile back and she starts to get clues leading her to assume the worst about him and the worst about her father. Could her father really hurt his own son? Will the clues finally add up and lead Shayla to the truth that is just dying to be heard? Bobby Whiteshirt just died in jail, could it be his ghost tormenting her? Or is it something else she never would of dreamed of in a million years?

Fistful of Brains
January 20, 2009
In the late 1800s, a small dusty town in the mountains of North Carolina gets caught in a vicious battle between two brothers. One is the leader of a mysterious group of people that lives deep in the woods and the other is a snake oil salesman. All of the sudden the towns cattle are being ravaged and mutilated. Is there a wolf around? What else could be killing them all off ?
Sheriff TW is one cocky son of a bitch that won’t hesitate to pull his gun on your ass as Jack finds out after he spills booze down Lilly’s dress. TW is a little rough on his words and doesn’t mince them for anyone, not even his daughter Lilly. They all suspect that the people in the woods are the ones who are killing off the cattle but don’t know for sure. TW is planted on the bar stool again when Deputy Dan comes in with the bad news.
Dan cuts off a heated argument between TW and Miss Daisy saying they needed to do something about these cows before it’s too late. Corny Pastor Jones shows up and he likes to show anyone or thing just how great god can be. People in town have just bought this elixir from Deadeye McSlain and what was supposed to heal them is definitely killing them instead.
Will this town be taken over by rotting animated corpses? Or will they figure out how to remedy this situation? I didn’t expect to like this movie half as much as I did. I would have to say that it was one of the best indie zombie movies I have ever seen. Christine Parker should be proud of this film. You’ll like the story, characters, and the spaghetti western inspired set was cool as hell! If you enjoy independent horror, Fistful of Brains should be the next thing you put on your to do list.
