Fighting Words (2007)
October 30, 2008
89 Minutes
Directed by: E. Paul Edwards
Indican Pictures
I thought I was going to be bored stiff with Fighting Words, but it wasn’t half bad. Poetry to me is like music… the words envelope around me and make me feel intense yet focused. Some people have a hard time showing their feelings but their way of getting it all out is writing it down. Writing it makes it almost seem to seep out of your finger tips onto the lined paper before you.
Jake is an emotionally over flowing man who likes to just sink deep into his work. He is a regular at a poetry bar and always performs his poetry on stage for the crowd. Watching these scenes you will see how some people just have an incredible knack for projecting their words onto the wishers of the crowd. There are individuals how ever that find poetry to be just a bunch of shit…what can I say?
Can Marnie and Jake find a happy ending in a business full of backstabbers and plagiarists? Will Jake even be able to become a famous poetry author? Sometimes people just need to stop and take a second to acknowledge that many of us do have feelings even if we aren’t all up to sharing them up on some stage or even down on paper. One should not be afraid to come to terms with the feelings inside them.
The publisher that Marni works for decide to hold a contest called The poetry slam. Poets compete for a money prize and a publishing deal. Marni also finally splits from her arrogant poet of a boyfriend who is played by C Thomas Howell. I remember him back in the day playing pony boy in one of my all time movie favorites The Outsiders- he was a greaser!

W The Movie- Alfred Eaker
October 27, 2008
Directed by: Alfred Eaker
This W The Movie is not the one from Oliver Stone that has just graced a theatre near you- no, this one is from independent film maker Alfred Eaker. W The Movie is a surreal, apocalyptic satire on the Bush years and our own American culture. It is only partially about Bush for it begins in 2000 and ends with the upcoming elections in 08. I have decided that this year I will not vote for McCain or Obama…they are not people I would want running our country! Watch as W and Bluemahler fight for our beautiful land of the free and the brave while debating if someone might of slipped something in your drink.

Author Charlie Renne
Some of us complain on a daily basis about things, whether it be not having money to pay bills or how there aren’t enough hours in a day to get done all of our work. Poor Charlie had a truck fall on him and do you hear him complaining? Well a little bit but mostly the man feels blessed to even be alive. I mean my God think about this- one minute your driving and the next you see this truck toppling over to land on top of your car!
You open your eyes and you are trapped inside with fire fighters out there working the jaws of life in a frenzy to get you out of the tuna sized can that you now feel you are in! You are in so much pain but somehow you still doubt that you are really alive. When you read about all this man has had to go thru, you might just feel lucky in your own mundane every day gripes and moans! Charlie’s story will remind you that life is a beautiful thing!

October 24, 2008
“OF DARKNESS TO BE MADE AVAILABLE ON DVD FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31!
Philadelphia, PA – October 24, 2008 – That’s right horror fans, Halloween marks the spot for “Of Darkness”, the award-winning horror short from Eventide Productions.
Since 2006 “Of Darkness” has been taking the horror film festival circuit by storm. Having been accepted as an ‘Official Selection’ by more than twenty festivals, the film garnered ten “Best Short Film” nominations and won more than half of those nods, bringing home SIX BEST SHORT FILM awards. The little film with the heart of a feature didn’t stop there – it also took home awards for most “Most Promising Filmmaker”, “Best Cinematography”, and “Audience Award for Best Short Film”!
Well, it’s the witching season once again…and what better way to cap it all off than with a Halloween DVD release. The film, dubbed by critics as “20-minutes of pure suspense driven horror”, & “a super-concentrated burst of suspense & terror” by Film Threat, makes its DVD debut in a Collector’s Edition version with loads of special features. Included with the film will be the behind-the-scenes featurette “The Other Side Of Darkness”, with never before seen footage of the cast & crew on set as well as interviews with the filmmakers. Audio commentaries, storyboard comparisons, trailers, and production stills will round out the special features when the film hits the streets on All Hallows Eve.
Eventide Productions is now accepting pre-orders, via their online store @ eventideproductions. net. The DVD list price is $12.99 standalone, and is also available as a part of some pretty fun combo packs combining some additional “Of Darkness” swag. To take advantage of the pre-order opportunity, visit Eventide’s store.
In a final bit of exciting news, “Of Darkness” is set to air on FEARnet, Comcast’s online & on-demand outlet for all things horror, in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for the official project premiere date in the very near future.

At The House Of Madness
October 24, 2008
88Minutes
Directed by: Steve Sessions
Brain Damage released The House Of Madness back in August but I just happened to come across the name on their lists and thought it sounded interesting. Watching the trailer for it made me think that I was going to see an old 70’s horror film. It’s actually a newer film made to look old with bad splices and a fake upcoming horror movie trailer to boot!
Sarah is packing up her house and speaking with her husband on the telephone about some of the reasons she thinks their house isn’t selling. She musters up futile efforts of excuses until she becomes convinced that the house isn’t what’s negative, it’s the soil it’s built on. As you watch you have two other stories unfolding before you that I pretty much thinks sums up why evils lurks there.
Wilson and his dummy live there at a different time period and he is an extremely weird introverted guy. I wondered to myself if I could live off in seclusion in a decent size house with just a ventriloquist doll to interact with. Probably not. Wilson hears a knock and it’s his cousin Izzy who he hasn’t seen in ages. She ends up staying there a few days until her secret is let out of the bag.
The other story is of Tracy who is doing one of her favorite hobbies of metal detecting on the beach. Hoping to find some change or other little trinkets she waves the detector over the beach soil and hears a weird sound. After digging for a bit she finds an ancient book. The book is satanic and must be what spawned the madness in the house….right?

Goth (2004)
October 21, 2008
Directed by: Brad Sykes
Phoebe Dollar comes out to play in this dark tale of murder and mayhem in the lifestyle of our beloved Goths. Dollar is Goth, a mesmerizing elaborate make up wearing dark little nymph that has a lot more on her mind than just partying. First she offers Krissy and Boone the powerful drug called white light that is supposed to be the closest thing from having a life and death experience.
Krissy at first seems to be a little shy and introverted soul but Goth has other plans for her. Can she be changed? Could she embrace the dark and live for death? Those are two of the major rules of living the Goth lifestyle and you must abide by Goth’s rules. It’s not a spectacular movie but Phoebe pushes it along with her awkward sexiness and bad girl appeal.
Thru out this drug infested trip you also piece together another underlying story involving Krissy and her sister. Thru hazy flashbacks you see what the missing link is. Follow the dangerous path that Goth takes you on and you’ll see the crazy things Goth is capable of. Will Boone and Krissy succumb to Goth’s wishes or do you think this couple might be able to refrain from her lair?
Take a ride in the back of the black van that carries Goth and her sinister ideas to wherever her evil little heart desires. Boone thought this was going to be just another fun night out at the club watching some kick ass bands perform but boy was he off…way off! Experience what a Goth expects the world to be, a dark roller coaster ride thru life.
